Dr. Marcie Mullen
Dr. Marcie Mullen was born and raised on her family’s 6th -generation farm and acreage in Lyman. Marcie spent her formative years running cross-country and track at Sedro Woolley High School, fly fishing the local streams and rivers, and hiking all throughout the North Cascades. She accumulated as many animals as her parents would allow – some more fun and interactive than others, though stick bugs didn’t turn out to be nearly as interesting as she had hoped. After high school, Marcie went on to race cross-country and track on athletic and academic scholarships at Central Washington University. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Organismal Biology, and then went on to graduate magna cum laude from Oregon State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
Marcie moved back home following graduation from Oregon State, and accepted a mixed-animal position at one of Skagit County’s most well known veterinary clinics. Loyal to her coworkers, clients, and patients, Marcie didn’t venture out for another 10 years, eventually working at a variety of other area feline and small animal veterinary clinics.
Following vet school, Marcie married the apple of her eye, Jesse, after years of pestering the man to go on a date with her. Together they are grateful to raise their young son (Harlon) and daughter (Eloise) on the same family acreage that Marcie grew up on. In their free time, Marcie and Jesse enjoy spending time with their kids and family, hiking, biking, fishing, running, and attending their many sporting events. The young family can also be found on Lopez Island frequently, spending time with Jesse’s family. Marcie and her family are proud pet parents of 2 dogs – a Golden Retriever (Diesel) and a Blue Heeler (Jo), as well as a murderous cat (Miss Puffles the Destroyer), a rescued Russian tortoise (Delbert), a couple dozen chickens, and a handful of ducks, turkeys, quail, and fish. Jesse is pretty sure that the family has enough pets, but Marcie has yet to agree.
Marcie is thrilled to finally be able to open her own practice with Kristen and Ashley, after having worked with them for the past dozen years at various vet clinics – and equally as thrilled to see her favorite patients and clients again! While she enjoys most all aspect of veterinary medicine, she is particularly interested in internal medicine, sports medicine, preventative care, geriatric and hospice care, and poultry medicine.
